Dakota Johnson and Coldplay's Chris Martin have been dating since 2017, but they don't share much about their relationship in public. On Thursday, in an interview with Elle UK, Johnson gave
readers a small glimpse into what life is like at home for the couple.
“We’ve been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cozy and private,” she said. “Most of the partying takes place inside my house.”
The couple recently moved into a home in Malibu, settling into the $12.5 million house in January of this year. The house has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms over 5,338 square feet. Johnson says that she tends to be a homebody. Though she sometimes thinks she “should get slightly f–ked up” on a Friday night she thinks “drinking tea and watching TV is appealing” because she frequently has a grueling work schedule.
“I feel both 48 and 26,” she said of her habits. “I’ve had a lot of life in my life. I had a lot of life really young, so I think I feel older.”
Starting in December 2020, it was rumored the couple is secretly engaged, though they have not confirmed it. Martin commented on his girlfriend in October while on stage at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, dedicating his song “My Universe” to Johnson.
“This is about my universe, and she’s here,” he said, as the band began to play. The song is a collaboration with K-Pop band BTS.
Johnson has a nice relationship with Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, according to People, and they frequently hang out in a group. Paltrow told Harper'sBazaar in 2020 that she “adores” Johnson.
“I just adore her,” Paltrow says. “I always start to think of the ampersand sign — what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There's so much juice in leaning in to something like that.”
