While concerns around the spread of the Omicron variant have affected plans for the fashion events in Europe, the schedule in New York, which serves as a kick-off for three weeks of
women’s fashion events across the globe, is looking lively — for now. New York Fashion Week 2022 schedule
Steven Kolb, the chief executive of the CFDA told the press, “The American fashion industry has shown great resilience during this difficult time. As the Omicron variant continues to present challenges at every level, I am looking forward to seeing the ways in which designers continue to present their collections in creative, innovative ways with an eye to the safety of all fashion week stakeholders.”
Designers currently planning to stage live events include everyone from Anna Sui, Christian Siriano and Eckhaus Latta, to LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors, Khaite and Gabriella Hearst. Tory Burch, Maisie Wilen and CFDA chairman Tom Ford, who will close out the week, are also on board.
What to expect at New York Fashion Week 2022…
New York Fashion Week commences Fall 2022 Fashion month from Friday, February 11 to Wednesday, February 16. On Thursday, January 13, the CFDA in partnership with IMG officially released its New York Fashion Week schedule for Fall 2022, with nearly 100 designers presenting (physically or digitally) in a 6-day stretch and more to be revealed.
While there are a slew of designers who are going to present in the Fashion month kick off event, notable names like Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, Staud, Chromat, Thom Browne and Pyer Moss are missing from the schedule. New comers include Dauphinette, Judy Turner, Loring, Luchen, Melke, PatBO, Saint Sintra, Zankov, and more.
What’s more? Many designers are planning one-on-one appointments or very small presentations since most will take place indoors, an option that is suitable for the typical February weather.
With the global spread of the Omicron variant, the CFDA has announced COVID-19 safety guidelines for all attendees, which requires all guests and individuals entering any space to provide proof of vaccinations, wear masks indoors at all times (with an exception for eating and drinking areas or for models walking the runway). There will also be reduced guest capacity with appropriate spacing at the show’s venues, which are most likely to all take place indoors this season.
Kolb said, “We will be following the COVID protocols that were instated in September that call for mandatory vaccination, mask wearing indoors, and scaling back the size of audiences. We continue to be in contact with local and state health officials as we monitor the Omicron variant.”
