At present, life is offering every excuse to dress down. No one can be blamed for retreating into the comfort of sweatpants and boring t-shirts, but celebrities are a different breed. Considering
that they’re the focus of attention, they always have to dress the part. This necessity rang in the minds of Black men as they went the extra mile in expressing their style last week.
The Looks
Basketball player, Jayson Taytum, arrived the Wells Fargo Center in a modern direction. Incorporating floral print into a sporty look can sometimes be enigmatic but the athlete’s ensemble for the Celtics and 76ers game required no explanation. Taytum’s combination of the Willie Austin sideline jacket, Pleasures interactive woven pants, and Air Jordan 1 sneakers was simple, effective, and undeniably expressive.
Nigerian reality star, Neo Akpofure, switched things up from his usually playful casual look, trading his athleisure pieces for a bold statement-making number. Incorporating a part of Nigerian fashion into his look with a pair of Aso Oke pants with tapered hem, Neo’s look could be registered as bespoke and sartorial as he kept things sweet. With a golden brown blazer worn over a white t-shirt, a pair of white sneakers, and a gold-toned necklace serving as his primary accessory, he stayed true to the style code without sacrificing any charm.
Last week, as they went about ticking things off their itinerary, Black men prioritized expressing their style. Whether that meant pulling out standout pieces or enlivening otherwise minimalistic looks, the best dressed were willing to put in that extra effort.
