Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Announce They've Welcomed Their First Baby via Surrogate

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas dropped a major surprise announcement this afternoon: The two are now parents. Chopra shared on her Instagram that “we are overjoyed to confirm that we have

welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.” They did not share the baby's name or gender at this point. TMZ was told by sources “with direct knowledge” that the couple welcomed a baby girl who was born Saturday in Southern California.

Chopra captioned the Instagram post with a heart and tagged Jonas.

Jonas and Chopra got married three years ago. Chopra has been open about the two's hope to start a family. She told Vanity Fairin its cover story earlier this month that having kids was very much a hope of theirs.

“They’re [kids] a big part of our desire for the future,” Chopra said. “By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens.” When told that their lives seem busier than ever with all their projects, Chopra responded, “No, we’re not too busy to practice.”

She added that when they do welcome a child, she has no issue with slowing down with her career commitments. “I’m okay with that. We’re both okay with that,” she said.

Jonas spoke to E! last February about how he and Chopra want to have a big family together. “She is the most important piece of the puzzle, and it's obviously something we hope happens [starting a family], and God willing, it comes together,” Jonas said. “You know, whatever is right. We're blessed to have each other and have a full heart for the future, I say, and things are out of your control. And the foundation of a couple is strong, and you're excited about the possibility of that.”
