While much of the fashion industry has endured disruptions throughout the pandemic, Haute Couture has not been left out. For Spring/Summer 2022, couturiers took the cap off and showcased sensational pieces brimming
with creativity and craftsmanship. From Schiaparelli’s intriguing exploration of space to Dior’s crafty constructions, Couture week sure had us on the edge of our seats.
Just as the name describes, Haute Couture Fashion Week calls for the highest form of craftsmanship in fashion, and with the Spring Summer Couture shows, the high fashion houses have once again pulled out all the stops with confections that bring forth visions of colorful exploration, the ethereal, and coated extravagance.
In fact, some are heading directly for outer space. That’s exactly what Daniel Roseberry, creative director of the French haute couture house Schiaparelli, did for his latest spring-summer 2022 collection. His otherworldly designs brought the cosmos down to earth for people to experience through fashion, with a dash of cheeky 1950s silhouettes. Complete with gilded solar systems and Byzantine halos, his case for extravagance is just what we expect from Paris Haute Couture Week.
