In the last week of February, Italy became the epicenter of fashion as luxury brands and designers predicted the future of fashion with Milan Fashion Week fall/winter 2022. If all you heard
about Milan Fashion Week was that actress Marsai Martin made her runway debut for Missoni, we are glad to inform you that there was so much more going on. Runways, big and small, showcased designers doing the most — some brand new names, some seasoned designers.
Milan Fashion Week is home to big names like Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, but there’s a lot of variety in terms of eye-catching designs when it comes to the event’s wider showing. And this fall/winter 2022 season, Milan Fashion Week’s top designs were especially good.
Undeniably, the atmosphere at the show this season was eerie, when it commenced just one day prior to Russia’s attack on Ukraine. It wasn’t until Giorgio Armani’s silent show that the atrocities Ukraine is facing were openly acknowledged.
Elsewhere, moments of joy were offered up by the likes of Gucci, where the brand collaborated with Adidas on a dream-scape collection, clad full of logomania and tuxedo’s. At Diesel and Versace, who both showed against rich hues of red backdrops, Italian glamour and drama was celebrated, while elegance was offered by Mattheiu Blazy who wiped the slate clean with his debut collection for Bottega Veneta, alongside Jil Sander, and Prada (where we predict the ribbed singlets will be worn by every influencer come next spring.)
When it came to color, there were a few standout shades in the mix, including Barbie pinks, royal blues, and—above all else—yellows in every hue imaginable. From banana to marigold, it seems almost every designer opted for a sunny disposition, with standouts including Caprasa Milano, Max Mara, and Diesel.
As expected, the giant players in the major fashion capital present how art meets style through a series of runway shows. From fairy tale-like showcases, to tributes to women and Ukraine by Giorgio Armani, here are some of the best collections showcased at Milan Fashion Week fall/winter 2022 show.
