Comfortable fashion has become synonymous with athleisure, but there’s more than one way to feel comfy. Last week, as Black stars headed to sport meets, business events, and parties, they sought out
personalized looks with the right combination of casual ease and visual interest.
The Looks
Making his home season debut for the Philadelphia Sixers v. New York Knicks game, professional basketball player, James Harden spotted a minimal but impactful sporty look. The NBA player was all about dressing for the game as he offered a glimpse of his pre-game swag in a Celine X Thomas Sauter jacket and track pants. He didn’t end it there. He finished off the look with a pair of Lavin curb sneakers and black sunglasses. Given his ability to pull off even the most unusual pieces, Harden pulled off this fall basic in a fashionable way. Black men casual
In Nigeria, the celebrities and influencers indulged in dainty finery of home based designers. At the Veuve Clicquot polo tournament in Lagos, reality TV star Prince Nelson Enwerem emerged looking ready to paint the economic capital green. Dressed in a two piece lime colored suit by Jeff Urban Clothing worn over a leaf print camp collar shirt and a pair of white sneakers, Nelson was the ultimate representation of what dressing for a cocktail event should look like.
Last week’s slate of events put the focus back on visually interesting outfits. While the headlines were filled with runway outfits from fashion week, Black men around the world proved that fashion doesn’t need to break the internet to be considered exceptional.
