Argylle: Everything We Know About Dua Lipa’s First Film

Dua Lipa is a pop star, lifestyle brand founder, and even, on rare occasions, a runway model. Now it seems she’ll soon become a movie star, too. The “Don’t Start Now”

singer is set to make her acting debut in Argylle, a new spy thriller from Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn.

Not much is known about Lipa’s role yet, but we just got our first look at her in the film. In a still released by Apple TV+, she wears a gold form-fitting dress (and a blonde wig!) while cozied up to co-star Henry Cavill.

Lipa’s casting was first announced in July 2021, per The Hollywood Reporter. She’ll also create original music for Argylle’s title track and score. Here’s what we know so far.

Who else is in the cast?

Along with Lipa and Cavill, a roster of A-listers are set to star in Argylle: Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Vaughn will direct from a script written by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, I Still See You).

What is Argylle about?

The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Ellie Conway, which will be published in 2022. According to THR, it follows Argylle, the world’s greatest spy, through his adventures around the world. “It’s expected to be the first of at least three films in the franchise and is set in America, London and multiple locations across the world,” per the outlet.

In a statement, Vaughn praised the Argylle and compared the story to James Bond. “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ‘50s,” he said. “This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”

When does it come out?

The release date has not been confirmed, but Apple says the film is “coming soon.” Just remember you’ll need a subscription ($4.99 per month) to watch on Apple TV+.
