The most respected individuals in history have one thing in common—authenticity. It’s the same reason why original works of art cost significantly higher than their imitations. Amid all the celebrations lined up
last week, Black stars around the world celebrated accordingly and stayed true to their identities. Among other expressions of originality were their style representations. These beauties donned themselves in sultry gauze-like fabrics, colorful neon takes, and a confidence overdose as they paraded the style scenes for fashion shows, press rounds, award shows, and Instagrammable moments.
The looks
While feeling sexy might be a state of mind, the ensemble plays a major role. Singer Chloe Bailey reminded us that an all-black-everything is always a sexy option as she attended the Hollywood Reporter Oscar nominee party in a slinky corset black dress that accentuated her curves and set her smokey eye makeup ablaze.
The talented Ashantibodied a red monochrome look that evoked an irresistable allure. Her red cold shoulder top with gold chain details was a perfect fit to the red latex pants and red platform shoes she paired with it. The look as styled by Tim B was the drama we didn’t know our week needed, and trust the music sensation to work in the classic red nail polish to tie together an already solid look!
As the social media slang goes, “hot girl shi”, Nigerian media girl Toke Makinwa was the true definition of that in a green Binwa Fashion set. In addition to making her greens, she sure knows how to wear them and this hue with accents of white accessories paid a compliment to her skin tone.
The styles shared by Black celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous, and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
