T
he journey between good and extraordinary is quite tasking with many preferring to stick with good and call it a day. However, for a select few, good isn’t good enough and
they would rather put in extra work to achieve extraordinary. We can certainly attest that this was the case last week as Black women opted for extraordinary beauty looks that blew everyone else out of the water.
With such an impressive line up of events last week, it’s no wonder that good wasn’t enough to cut it. From the International Women’s Day celebration to award shows, Black women were afforded the opportunity they sought to raise the bar, and did they deliver! Think maximum shine, classic takes, hair sensation, and the whole ten yards. There was truly no excuse to play mediocre.
The Looks
Makeup
Not every bald head translates #goals, but Jada Pinkett-Smith is undoubtedly the exception. The mother-of-two commanded a regal vibe as she showed up for the Critic’s Choice Awards sporting her signature hairless head. Beyond that, she opted for an in-between glam and subtle makeup that further played up the queenly vibe.
Nigerian multimedia personality, Erica Nlewedim is everyone’s beauty darling, and for good reason. Last week, she reiterated this fact as she celebrated her birthday in bold tones of spring. Amid the flowers and pastel hues, it was definitely the makeup that struck at our heart’s cord. The subtle look featured dusts of gold eyeshadow and rosy cheeks brought alive by an intricate shade of lippie. And with a smile like hers, there’s certainly no way she can do wrong.
Hair
Another one of the extraordinary beauty looks we were blessed with last week was served by none other but the glam Vivica Fox. The legendary actress went bold in platinum blonde and the result is a true beauty statement. If rocking a bold hue has ever frightened you, let Madame Fox be your 2022 inspiration.
