A$AP Rocky Teased His Upcoming Mercedes-Benz Collab
Earlier this year Rihanna and A$AP Rocky attended the Off-White show during Paris Fashion Week. While most people had their eyes were on Ri Ri's latest pregnancy fit (a skin-tight Off-White
PVC dress), it was Rocky's own look that piqued our interest. The “Fashion Killa” rapper was dressed in a leather bomber jacket and matching trousers, both of which came with debossed Mercedes-Benz signature branding.
While we thought maybe he'd just invested in a new Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 and wanted some leather gear to match, there was more to the fit than met the eye. Yesterday Rocky took to Instagram to announce that he has secretly been working on a collaborative collection with Mercedes-Benz. In an Instagram video captioned “HISTORY IN DA MAKING?MERCEDES BENZ X AWGE DROPING A$AP!!!”, Rocky gives us a glimpse of what's to come.
Rocky's collective AWGE includes Playboi Carti and Smooky Margielaa, as well as his fellow A$AP Mob members A$AP Nast and A$AP Ferg. Rocky's post yesterday confirmed a single product—a satsuma-hued nylon bomber jacket, which comes emblazoned with the iconic Mercedes Three-Pointed Star logo and AWGE's name on the back. It's probably safe to assume that the moto-inspired, "AWGE"-stamped shell trousers worn with the jacket are also part of the collaboration.
And just moments ago, Rocky hit us with more visuals on Instagram: Him, sitting in a Benz with a white leather interior, in a long-sleeve tee with a Benz-logo-as-tennis-crest on one side of the chest, and the AWGE script on the other.
We should've seen the apparel collaboration coming. Rocky hooked up with Mercedes in 2017 and starred in the German car giant's campaign, which promoted the Mercedes CLA Coupe. In the
Meanwhile, Mercedes has been steadily increasing its standing in the fashion world in recent years. Not only is it a major sponsor of fashion weeks the world over, it partnered with Heron Preston in 2021 to reuse its airbags to create one-of-a-kind jackets and trousers. Notably, Mercedes also took late Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh for a spin in its passenger seat and allowed him to create a few one-off designs, including a track-ready G-Wagen in 2020 and the Project MAYBACH off-roader concept that showed late last year.
As yet we have no release date on the merch, but as Rocky said, the garb will be out “A$AP.”
