on Friday to see his beloved hometown Toronto Raptors play his also-beloved adoptive-city team, the Los Angeles Lakers, he arrived game-ready wearing a one-of-one, 127.5-carat diamond necklace from Homer, the independent luxury company founded by elusive chanteur Frank Ocean.
Drake, whom Homer confirms as the buyer of the piece, purchased the “sphere legs high jewelry necklace” at its eye-watering sticker price of $1,898,000. The necklace, made of 18-karat white gold pavé-linked orbs, features an absolutely bonkers 9,226 diamonds: all lab-grown (as is Homer’s M.O.), VVS clarity. The piece has only been worn once in public at the 2021 Met Gala by Ocean himself—though it was more or less overshadowed by his other statement accessory, a neon green robot baby doll named Cody—and has been on display at the Homer store on Bowery in Manhattan ever since.
This may even be Drake’s most expensive chain to date, eclipsing his OVO owl pendant, which was crafted by the proverbial celeb jeweler Ben Baller using 40 carats of ice-blue, canary-yellow, and white VVS diamonds…and over a kilo of gold. Then again, Champagne Papi bet over $1.26 million on the Super Bowl just a few weeks ago—and won.
Also a few weeks ago, Drake posted a selfie to his Instagram story sporting another diamond-wrapped Ben Baller chain made in the likeness of Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR persona, bowlcut and all.
