The best summer sandals to add to your basket now

The sun’s out, the temperatures are starting to soar (well as much as they do in the UK in spring), so it’s time to book yourself a pedicure and invest in

some chic summer sandals.

There is a style to suit everyone, from the maximalist to the minimalist. The latter will rejoice at the news that the naked sandal is still very much en vogue (look to Gianvito Rossi and Manolo Blahnik for these).

Carrying on from last season, platforms are still a must, and you just have to look at The Row’s re-stock of the Ginza sandals, now in multiple colourways, to prove it (I love ATP and STAUD for more affordable versions).

The maximalist amongst you will also love ‘ugly’ sandals are also a great option, though they’ve been embellished for SS22 with rhinestones and tie dye prints – Arizona Love, I’m looking at you.

Easy slip-on sandals are a trend we can all get on board with. An extension of last summer’s throw-on dress, it’s what it says on the tin: a go-with-everything sandal that – while simple – works hard to pull your outfit together. Think paired-back slides or chunky tread-sole sandals.

Feminine heels were everywhere on the catwalk as we finally embrace getting dressed again, and this season it’s all about pastel shades, pops of colour and fun prints. More is absolutely more.

If you aren’t keen on heels, fret not. The last few seasons have cemented the flat shoe as the shoe to live in. From logo slides (hi Chloé and Gucci) and monochrome mules (Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta) to barely-there straps (Porte & Paire and Aquazzura), this trend is anything but boring, though the comfort factor is undeniable.
