Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Skipped the 2022 Oscars

In just weeks, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will co-chair this year's Met Gala. But tonight, the industry power couple was missing in action from award season's buzziest show: the Academy

Awards. But their absence from the Oscars wasn't surprising, as neither were nominated for any awards or have projects with nominations.

Lively and Reynolds are primarily based in New York, where they're raising their three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty. While it's not impossible the two could stop at an Oscars after party if they're in town later this evening, they haven't been photographed by paparazzi in Los Angeles this weekend. The two typically keep a low profile between promoting their projects.

Lively did gush about the success of Reynolds' new Netflix film The Adam Project four days ago on her Instagram, though. She shared photos of the two at the New York premiere for the film. “187.6 million hours of #theadamproject watched on @netflix so far!” she captioned her post. “I’m back now. That was a commitment, but the gift was all mine— I’ll do anything for my new favorite movie. @slevydirect & @vancityreynolds please work together forever. Gotta find your next project ASAP!… Ok. Gonna scroll the internet now. Anything I missed??”

Lively was last photographed on March 18 at the Gem Awards in New York City wearing a chic black cutout dress.

On Valentine's Day, she shared a rare candid selfie of her and Reynolds. She posted a simple message to him in honor of their 10+ year relationship. “Find me a better friend. ♥️ I’ll wait…” she wrote.
