After calling the Oscars out for not inviting her despite her leading role in nominated film West Side Story, Rachel Zegler was tapped to be a presenter for the ceremony. And
the actress dressed gorgeously for her first time at the Academy Awards ceremony in a sheer Dior dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. ELLE.com received exclusive behind the scenes photos of Zegler's Oscars prep and details on the jewelry Zegler wore in her relatively last-minute look.
Zegler wore a choker from the Tiffany Archives (1980), and altogether, the diamonds she's wearing from the jewelry brand are valued at nearly $600,000. Zegler was ecstatic to wear them to the ceremony.
“I’m so excited to be attending my first Oscars!” she said in a statement to ELLE.com. “To be wearing a vintage piece from Tiffany and all these Tiffany diamonds just feels so special and it just rounds out my look. I'm so ready to present tonight!”
Zegler has been filming Snow White in London, and according to the New York Times, Disney rearranged the production schedule on the film so Zegler could attend the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
Zegler, who is Latina, addressed some of the racist comments she received after she was cast in the role in a December ELLE interview. “These are a bunch of faceless people that you’ll never encounter in your real life. They will never have the gall to come up to you at a Starbucks and say, ‘You’re not white enough to play Snow White,’” she said. “I’ve got a responsibility for young people in the future, who [can] say, ‘This Latina was able to play Snow White—I can do anything.’”
