Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince George, 8, rarely step out with their parents Kate Middleton and Prince William for royal events, but for the memorial service for their great-grandfather Prince Philip
today, the two joined along.
Charlotte walked with her mother Kate into Westminster Abbey. The family matched in navy outfits. Charlotte was dressed in a navy peacoat, while her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, wore an Alessandra Rich dress and a Lock & Co. Hatters hat. She further accessorized with a Russell & Bromley clutch, Gianvito Rossi pumps, and Collingwood earrings. George and William wore navy suits.
Charlotte and George were not joined by their younger brother, Prince Louis, 3, for the event, likely because of Louis’s young age and the memorial service’s solemn nature.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have kept their children’s lives primarily private. While heir to the throne George has attended some events with his family (sporting events, primarily), Charlotte and Louis have not.
Earlier this month, a source detailed to Us Weeklywhat George is like ahead of his 9th birthday in July. “His confidence has grown leaps and bounds over the last couple of years,” the source said. “He is assertive, self-assured and knows what he wants, and doesn’t hold back on speaking his mind. His personality is really starting to shine.”
The source added that George is a “fun-loving” kid with a “cute, mischievous side.”
“He likes to play pranks on his parents and siblings, and making everyone laugh,” the source explained. “Despite the responsibilities he’ll entail in his future role, Kate and William don’t want to see him grow up too quickly. They’re determined to give him as much of a normal childhood as possible and it’s working wonders. He’s such a lovable, down-to-earth little boy. … It’s clear Prince William and Kate are raising him well.”
