Everything We Know About the Queen Charlotte Bridgerton Spinoff

The first two seasons of Shonda Rhimes' romance novel adaptation Bridgerton have been a smash hit on Netflix. This week, Shondaland announced that a spinoff is in the works that will

delve into the history of real-life figure Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuval in the original series. Rosheuval will continue in the role, but the limited series will follow a younger version of Charlotte played by India Amarteifio as she rises to the position of Queen.

Here's what we know so far about the as yet untitled project.

What is the plot?

The series logline says the the story is “centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power,” her marriage to King George (which will be a definite love match) and the subsequent social shift. We'll also be seeing more of Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury and their youthful exploits.

Young Agatha Danbury in particular will be a guide to Charlotte, though she has her own agenda in court.

Who is in the cast?

In addition to Rosheuval and Amarteifio, young King George will be played by Corey Mylchreest, Michelle Fairley as his sister Princess Augusta, and TV newcomer Arsema Thomas as the young Lady Danbury.

Sam Clemmett plays Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham is Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim plays Adolphus, Rob Maloney plays the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri will be Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs, who appeared in Bridgerton seasons 1 & 2, plays older Brimsley.

The limited series is headed by Rhimes, of course, with director and executive producer Tom Verica and executive producer Betsy Beers.

When will the Bridgerton Spinoff be released?

There isn't an announcement yet about when we can expect to see the show on Netflix, but the cast has already had their first read through for the premiere episode, so things are moving.
