Zendaya Joins the Slouchy Suit Brigade

The appeal of the slouchy suit knows no bounds. The louche look has shown up on everyone from Seth Rogen to Donald Glover to Justin Bieber. We've seen the likes of

Bella Hadid and Alana Haim turn to baggy menswear staples to deliver high-grade style as well. So it only makes sense that when Zendaya—one of the two or three biggest actors on the planet right now—appeared at a Euphoria event this week, she did so in her own slouchy suit. And it makes even more sense that she turned to one of the best in the contemporary tailoring game: Jerry Lorenzo's Fear of God.

Zendaya is no stranger to tailoring; she wore a meticulously-shaped suit to the Vanity Fair Oscar party just last month. However, this Fear of God number is a different beast, slouching towards 1990s Armani levels of casual elegance. The concrete gray color is innocuous, but the generous cut on the blazer is a total head-turner—and it's a winning combination. It's also precisely what Lorenzo does so well as a designer: mixing low-key shades with roomy cuts so that the wearer always looks sophisticated and incredibly comfortable. This is probably why Zendaya is just the latest celebrity to turn to his label, joining a club including Rogen, John Mayer, Dwayne Wade, and countless others.

Lorenzo recently told GQ that he wanted Fear of God's tailored pieces to look like they "could have come out in 1986 or 2040." Perhaps that sentiment cuts to the core of the appeal. To wear a slouchy Fear of God suit is to look both timeless and futuristic at once. Not to mention that it also feels extremely right now. And as Zendaya proves, it makes for one hell of a red-carpet look.
