Dua Lipa’s Exposed Thong is Making a Comeback Case For the Y2k ‘Whale Tail’

Dua Lipa's dua-ing her thing in the fashion game, this time with a thong. Week after week she serves new style inspiration or revisits throwback trends. Her latest Instagram Story, where

she exposed a blue G-string and mimicked the “whale tail” look is clear proof that she's a Y2K fanatic.

Posting a quick look at her outfit in a mirror selfie, the pop princess, who is currently on the European leg of her world tour, took a day off to sight-see. She swapped out her typical concert catsuits for something a little more low-key.

Lipa paired her loose and low-hanging, light-wash jeans with a satiny, barely-there baby blue G-string, hiked above her hips for max effect. For the top, she chose an oversized ribbed crewneck in navy, accessorizing the look with a red and beige New York Yankees baseball cap, a red oval clutch, and an array of chunky rings.

This also isn't the first time Lipa has dared to bare what she's wearing underneath her high-end digs. In January 2021, the “Sweetest Pie” songstress nailed the carefree, thong-out look in an IG carousel where she showed off multiple angles of a strappy black dress. She has also acted as the Y2K G-string ambassador in the past, by flaunting the sexy look on date night with ex-boyfriend Anwar Hadid.

Aside from reprising the iconic peek-a-boo lingerie look, Lipa showed us that she's been having a blast exploring the great outdoors with a gallery showing off Ireland's gorgeous countryside. The pics consisted of several enviable outfit snaps featuring a possible black thong moment, and another nod to the Y2k era: a belly chain. “Exploring Ireland ?,” the singer captioned the post.

With upcoming performances in her hometown of London, she recently told The Sun that her United Kingdom homecoming is “emotional” for her.

“I was looking at pictures of my previous shows here in Manchester and I got really emotional, as so much has changed in what feels like so little time,” she said. “This is the best welcome home ever. We've been waiting so long to put this show on. We moved it and postponed it and finally, we're here.”

“I want to thank you so much for listening to the music and all your support for dancing with us. It means the world. Thank you for allowing me to be on this stage,” she added.
