Kris Jenner has now gone on record to try to defend her 25-year-old daughter Kendall Jenner's decision to throw a big Halloween party at Harriet’s Rooftop in Los Angeles—a shindig that
violated LA's COVID-19 policy. None of the dozens of guests captured in photos from the party appeared to be wearing masks, except for Jaden Smith.

Los Angeles is under a Safer at Home order, where residents are advised to "stay home (stay unexposed); only go out for essential services—and when you do, stay six feet or more away from others; and don’t gather in groups." Additionally, venues like nightclubs, theaters, and bars aren't even supposed to be open: "Entertainment venues like these are not permitted to be open during this Order," the city says on its COVID-19 site.
Kris spoke to Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show and tried to justify Kendall's party by saying guests were tested on site. (The rapid results tests they used are known for being less accurate than the PCR test.) She did not address it violating LA's Safer at Home policy.

Kris said, "We’re dealing with lots of people that have different opinions and all we can do is live our lives the best way we know how and be responsible and do the right thing. And we're doing that. And I think, I am very sensitive to what's going on. Believe me, you know, I've, I've really tried so hard. We are very lucky to work in an industry where we get tested once or twice a week."
"At Kendall's [party], everyone got tested before they walked in the door and they had to wait, you know, a half an hour until the testing was, the results were in," she added.
"And everybody was tested before a few days before the, you know, Halloween. So we are really responsible and we make sure that everyone in our family and our closest friends are tested religiously. So, you know, we do what we can, we, we try to follow the rules. And then if people are, you know, they're commenting and they're being critical, I can't control that.”
Kris's interview comes at the same time The Sunreleased a report claiming the family was aware that the party would be a "bad look" but did not care about the optics and threw it anyway. Staff at the venue were uncomfortable, The Sun's source added.
It also comes shortly after the family returned from Kim Kardashian's 40th vacation on a private island in Tahiti that Kim rented so she, her friends, and family "could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time." The vacation was slammed on social media for being tone-deaf.
A source who was at the party told The Sun that the Kardashians "knew this party was going to be a bad look and they did not care. The family was openly talking about it before the party and debating how to best handle it. They decided to just go through with it and have a good time. The guests were told not to post anything to their social media to help minimize the backlash but of course it still got out. Kris and the entire family were well aware of the LA CDC rules and chose not to follow them."
That source added that "there was no social distancing, no masks besides the staff and over 100 people. The staff were under the impression it would be handled safely, [but] no one felt comfortable."
