Kate Middleton Wore a Black Custom Alexander McQueen Coat at the Remembrance Day Service in London

The U.K. is back on lockdown because of the surging coronavirus pandemic, but the royal family still honored British and Commonwealth veterans on Sunday at a scaled-back version of the

Queen Elizabeth was joined by her immediate family, 30 service members, and other notable leaders, who all stood at a careful social distance.

It might have been a very different ceremony from years past, but Kate Middleton arrived at the event in her usual flourish of class and style. She wore a black custom Alexander McQueen coat with shoulder detailing, a Philip Treacy black hat, and pearl drop earrings that she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II, according to the Daily Mail. She also wore the customary red poppy pin to honor those who have died while serving their country in the line of duty.

Kensington Palace shared photos of the day on its official Instagram account:

Kate joined her mother-in-law, Camilla, on the balcony of The Cenotaph as they overlooked the monument that honors military personnel who died in World Wars I and II. The Queen, who wore a mask as she visited the grave of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey, stood one balcony over from her daughter and granddaughter-in-law at the ceremony.
