Two Heavyweight Streetwear Collaborations Are Dropping This Week

Collaboration is the name of the game in the world of streetwear, but two brands do it better—more excitingly, more intentionally, and just straight-up more often—than most: Supreme and Stüssy. Each

season, both juggernauts reliably have more than a handful of partnerships on deck. And this week, they're each announcing a killer one: Supreme with Timberland, and Stüssy with Comme des Garçons.

This isn't Supreme's first team-up with Timberland—or even its first this week. Supreme, of course, has agreed to a $2 billion deal with Timberland parent company VF, and it has a rich history with the bootmaker. Past collaborations have rendered leopard-printed lug shoes, low-top hikers, and plenty of other Supreme-ified versions of beloved Timberland boots. The two legendary brands still find ways to break new ground. This season, that means a reworked version of Timberland’s beloved 6-inch boot in three unique colorways, which is set to drop via Supreme’s website on November 12.

This time, the kicks get decked out in as big-as-can-be Supreme text. There are other small details too: a co-branded hangtag, a Supreme logo tab, and a debossed Timberland logo at heel. These can take a beating, too—they're made from premium nubuck upper reinforced by rugged triple stitching seam-sealed construction.

Stüssy's collab with Comme des Garçons heads in a slightly different direction. The longtime California label is in the midst of celebrating its 40th anniversary (which is like 100 in streetwear years), and its collaboration with the Comme des Garçons sub-label CDG is the latest celebration. Comme des Garçons, of course, is the Japanese label founded by one-of-one designer Rei Kawakubo, and revered for its stark, audacious fashion. Together, the two have come up with jackets, pants, bucket hats, and plenty of graphic tees. The co-branded goods are highly wearable—California-meets-Tokyo in the chillest way. The collection is set to drop November 13 via Stüssy and Dover Street Market.

Both drops represent a high-water mark for the often-tired streetwear collab. Supreme and Timberland is the merging of two New York powerhouses; Stüssy and Comme des Garçons feels like the fusing of two distinct but complementary styles. Each has something for everyone—and that’s always a good sign of a on-the-mark collaboration.
