Many who binge their way through Netflix's Selling Sunsetwill find themselves strangely preoccupied with the cast member's love lives. There's Chrishell Stause's headline-making divorce from This is Us star Justin Hartley;
persistent rumors about Mary Fitzgerald and her former flame/current boss Jason Oppenheim; and, of course, the whirlwind courtship between Christine Quinn and her new husband Christian Richard.
The pair quietly dated behind-the-scenes after the first season of the hit real estate show. By the time Quinn arrived to film season 2 (via a private jet, naturally), she and Richard were engaged and living in a multimillion-dollar mansion together. The other agents had questions about the speedy nature of their relationship—and where exactly Richard amassed his tech fortune. Ahead, everything we know about Quinn's other half, including his reservations about appearing on Selling Sunset.
He's a retired software engineer.
When Quinn was discussing her relationship with the agents at The Oppenheim Group, she described her fiancé as “big in the tech world.” She added, “He went to MIT, and he’s a software engineer and has worked for multiple companies, multiple development projects. And he’s retired." Quinn told Women’s Healththat Richard helped launch one of the original food delivery businesses. It became so successful, in fact, that Richard was able to retire by age 41.
He and Quinn live in the $5 million home she previously listed.
Although many of Quinn's co-workers questioned how she and Richard met (and if he was truly single at the time), she told Women's Health they were set up by a mutual friend. "[He’d] just moved to L.A. from the East Coast and we had a mutual friend who insisted on introducing us," she told the outlet. "When we finally went on our first date, we hit it off instantly and fell in love quickly." Quinn said Richard was initially set up with said friend, but it didn't work out. "My girlfriend went on a date with him and she's like, 'Hey, I went on a date with this guy who I really don't like. I know you're single, you may want to go out with him,'" Quinn told Refinery29.
As Quinn recalls on the show, she sold Richard their home after they'd been dating for nearly two months. "The house he ended up purchasing was actually my dream home before I even met Christian," Quinn told Women's Health. "I remember prior to meeting him, I would sit in that open house every Sunday and picture myself living there, getting coffee with my husband, and that manifestation came true—I now live in the house that I envisioned myself in with my husband."
The Hollywood Hills listing boasts four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and earned Quinn a $150,000 commission, as seen on the show. Purchase of the home was reported by Global Property and Asset Management, Inc. in January 2019. Quinn was mentioned in the piece, as well as Christian Dumontent. He's identified as the former CEO of Boston's Foodler, which sold to GrubHub in 2017. This suggests Christian may use a different name now that he's appearing on Selling Sunset.
They were married in an on-air ceremony less than a year later.
"Christine, I met you in Beverly Hills not even a year ago, and I absolutely fell head over heels in love with you,” Richard said in a toast at the couple's engagement party on the show. “We had dinner, she was wearing this red dress, and we hit it off in the car. We had instant banter which is really special, you don’t get that too often. I pursued her, and she’s a tough catch. But here we are now, she’s amazing, complements me perfectly, and we’re building a life together."
Their instant connection is evidenced by their fast-paced romance. Richard proposed to Quinn on Valentine's Day 2019, she revealed to People. They were married on December 15 of that year in an avant-garde ceremony described as a “gothic winter wonderland-themed wedding.” 75 guests attended, including Quinn's Selling Sunset co-stars, for a ceremony that included faux snow, swans, and the bride walking down the aisle to
