Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are headed to Mendes's home country of Canada for the holidays. In an interview with eTalk, Mendes said he and Cabello are going to Pickering, Ontario,
his hometown. He said they will be taking their dog, Tarzan, with him, too.
"I'm back home in five days, and the time can’t pass quickly enough," he said in the December 7 interview. "In five days I’ll be back in Pickering with my puppy and Camila, and I’m dying. I mean, this is the most excited I’ve ever been to come back to Canada. I can’t wait. I might never leave this time."
Cabello and Mendes have been spending much of this year together in quarantine. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Katie Krause, Mendes revealed just how serious things have gotten with his girlfriend of more than a year.
"Is she your forever person? Do you talk about an engagement one day?," Krause asked.
"Yeah, absolutely, I think for me it's always been if I'm not willing to talk about that stuff then I kind of check out a little bit, and I don't know, I really think when you know, you know," he said. "She's been one of my best friends since I was, like, 15 years old. I don't know, at the same time, I know we're really young so I don't want to jump, like, insanely fast, but I think when you find your person, you feel and you know that you have found your person."
In the interview with eTalk, Mendes shared more about the deep feelings he’s had for Cabello since he was a teen. "I remember I was like 17 years old and I heard that she might have had feelings for some guy. So they're not a thing, they've never even hung out, nothing’s really going on, but I go into the studio, and I’m writing songs that sound like my heart’s been broken in half and ripped apart. I’m like such a dramatic 17-year-old writing these songs, assuming she would know they're about it, but I guess in hindsight, I should have just told her. I guess that’s the part of growing up that happened."
Around the release of his latest album, Wonder, Mendes revealed that every song he’s ever written is about Cabello.
"My song comes on the radio or something and I'm like, ‘Everything's about you," he said. "They're all, they have always been about you.' She goes, 'What do you mean?' Like, they're all about you. Like every song I've ever wrote."
