Sophie Turner Says She Wore a Mask While Giving Birth, So You Can Wear One at Stores

Like many others, Sophie Turner is tired of some people objecting to wearing masks in public places despite many states mandating mask usage and COVID-19 cases spiking in the U.S. The

former Game of Thrones actress, who welcomed her first child with Joe Jonas in July, posted a PSA to her Instagram Stories last night, making her case succinctly."If I can wear a mask while I give birth, you can wear a mask at Walmart. And that’s the tea," she said.

The CDC released guidance calling for community mask wear, with the health organization writing, "SARS-CoV-2 infection is transmitted predominately by respiratory droplets generated when people cough, sneeze, sing, talk, or breathe. CDC recommends community use of masks, specifically non-valved multi-layer cloth masks, to prevent transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets ('source control'), which is especially relevant for asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware of their infectiousness to others, and who are estimated to account for more than 50% of transmissions. Masks also help reduce inhalation of these droplets by the wearer ('filtration for personal protection'). The community benefit of masking for SARS-CoV-2 control is due to the combination of these effects; individual prevention benefit increases with increasing numbers of people using masks consistently and correctly."

Turner and Jonas' daughter Willa is four months now, by the way. The couple did not announce Turner's pregnancy formally, although Turner was photographed out during the last few weeks of her time expecting.

Since giving birth, Turner has shared some of her own intimate photos from her pregnancy on her Instagram. Turner's comments about wearing a mask while giving birth are her first about her experience delivering her daughter.
