Bella Hadid started her new year with a major dye job: the model's front strands are now fire red and orange. The rest of her hair remains brown. The two-toned look
is very Ginger Spice, and Hadid worked it in a selfie she posted on January 3:
That selfie was the clearest look Hadid has given of her new style. But it first appeared in a grainier fashion on her Instagram on January 1:
This is Hadid's first time really going in on a colored hair trend while working as a model. She has previously tried different shades of brown and blonde. Hadid, a natural blonde, spoke to Glamourin 2016 about why she originally switched her hair color to her now-signature brown. It wasn't to set herself apart from her older model sister Gigi Hadid.
"I didn’t really dye my hair to separate myself from Gigi," she said. "I started dyeing my hair when I was 14. I dyed it black and blue, I wore eyeliner—I was a punk kid. I might want to go blond eventually!"
Hadid explained to Harper's Bazaarin March 2017 why she likes changing her hair color. "I think when you dye and cut your hair it takes away a lot of past resolutions," she said. "When I was 13, I dyed my hair dark and cut it and I felt like myself. Then when I was 15, I had a bob and dyed it blue and black and had side-bangs. I really just wanted to go back to when I was 15 and relive that."
