Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn haven't been photographed out together since February 2020 (and even then, they were barely visible). That changed yesterday when the couple of four years was photographed
out in London alongside Alwyn's mom. Swift and Alwyn showed some PDA, holding hands while decked out in winter gear. Swift wore a berry-colored hat and matching gloves gloves, a print mask, dark Stella McCartney coat, and skinny jeans with Hunter boots. Alwyn wore a black puffer jacket, dark beanie, jeans, and Hunter boots as well a mask.
While Alwyn and Swift have never posted any photos together on their social media, the couple has been photographed fromtimetotime by the paparazzi. They've also subtly confirmed they're quarantining together, with Alwyn sharing photos last year of her cats from their time together in lockdown. Swift spoke about their early quarantine days during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, too.
"I wasn't expecting to make an album," she said of folklore, adding that watching movies with Alwyn changed that plan. "Early on in quarantine, I started watching lots of films. We would watch a different movie every night. I'm ashamed to say I hadn't seen Pan's Labyrinth before. One night I'd watch that, then I'd watch L.A. Confidential, then we'd watch Rear Window, then we'd watch Jane Eyre. I feel like consuming other people's art and storytelling sort of opened this portal in my imagination and made me feel like, 'Well, why have I never done this before? Why have I never created characters and intersecting storylines? And why haven't I ever sort of freed myself up to do that from a narrative standpoint?' There is something a little heavy about knowing when you put out an album, people are going to take it so literally that everything you say could be clickbait. It was really, really freeing to be able to just be inspired by worlds created by the films you watch or books you've read or places you've dreamed of or people that you've wondered about, not just being inspired by your own experience."
Swift and Alwyn have purposely kept their relationship private and largely out of interviews. Swift explained the reasoning to The Guardian in August 2019. “I’ve learned that if I do [talk about my relationship with Alwyn], people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” she said with a laugh. “If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it—but it’s just that it goes out into the world. That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.”
