Taylor Swift and her British boyfriend Joe Alwyn have kept their relationship private for years, declining to speak in interviews about it and flying largely under the radar. Four years in,
things have changed, Entertainment Tonightreports. While Swift and Alwyn aren't about to be as public as famous couples like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend or even their friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, they aren't in complete hiding anymore either.
A source explained to Entertainment Tonight what shifted. "Taylor has gotten more and more comfortable being public with Joe and letting fans in on their romance in a way that she feels is still protecting it," the source said. "She loves Joe so much and, of course, is not trying to hide their relationship, but she prefers to keep specific details private."
The source reiterated what the outlet reported last month: Alwyn and Swift are serious about their future together. "Taylor and Joe are in it for the long haul and totally see a future with each other," the source said. "They don’t need outside praise or attention and are so fulfilled just being with each other and growing together as a couple."
E! also had rare detail on Alwyn and Swift's relationship this week, published shortly after the couple was photographed out together for the first time in nearly a year. Swift and Alwyn were seen holding hands in London alongside Alwyn's mom.
E!'s source explained what their life is like now: "She is back and forth between Nashville and England spending time with her family and with Joe's family. They take walks in the neighborhood and go on hikes to get fresh air." They are also taking the ongoing coronavirus pandemic very seriously: "[They are] abiding by the rules and not leaving the house much," the source said.
The two families get along, with the source adding that the couple and their parents "all seem very close and very happy," the source said. "They both know each other's families well and have spent a lot of time getting to know each other."
