Betty White Is Spending Her 99th Birthday Staying Up Late and Doing Exactly What She Wants
Today is Betty White's 99th birthday (it's also Michelle Obama's birthday, but she's probably more than fine with sharing her day with TV's national treasure).
"Since I am turning 99,
I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!," she told the Associated Press in an email.

The AP reported that White's birthday plans include feeding the ducks on her property and enjoying a birthday meal of hot dogs and french fries. Her friend and agent, Jeff Witjas, will be delivering her preferred birthday food, along with a bouquet of roses.
White has been on American TV screens since the early 1950s, and she's the Guinness Book of World Records holder for the Longest TV Career for a Female Entertainer. She has at least 20 Primetime Emmy nominations and has won five Emmys for her roles in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden Girls, and more. In 2010, at 88 years old, she
">hosted the Mother's Day episode of Saturday Night Live, a gig for which she won an Emmy.
Because we were all worried about her during the COVID-19 pandemic, Betty White provided Closer Weekly with an update on her life and health in May.
"I'm blessed with incredibly good health," she wrote to the publication in an email. Her friend Tom Sullivan told Closer Weekly that the legendary actress was finding ways to entertain herself: "She reads the L.A. Times cover to cover," he said. "She owns literally thousands of crossword puzzle books and is constantly doing them to keep her mind jumping. This is really serious with her."
A close friend revealed then that she enjoys the occasional hot dog and fries, a favorite snack, during quarantine. She pairs the treat with a vodka martini.
