Bella Hadid is just days away from becoming an aunt to her sister Gigi Hadid's first child, but tonight, the younger Hadid is on duty as a presenter for the MTV
VMAs in New York City. Hadid posed on the red carpet, channeling the '90s in a black sheer top and pants.
Her appearance comes just days after the Daily Mail claimed that she and her ex The Weeknd reunited during rehearsals. (She appeared to tape her segment on Friday.)
Hadid owns an apartment in New York, but she's actually spent the bulk of her time in quarantine at her family's farm in Pennsylvania. Hadid spoke to ELLE about what she missed most about New York City. "I miss smiling at people," she said. "I miss hugging, a lot. I miss walking around and listening to music. It’s different when you’re in the city. You can walk forever—going nowhere and somehow still feeling like you’ve got somewhere to be."
She added that she misses working the most, generally. "After a few years of being a workaholic—not being home for more than five days—I found spending three months at home [intense]," she said.
Hadid also addressed how she envisioned the future of fashion post-COVID-19: "I’ve had a lot of time to reflect during my quarantine, and I’m really eager to get back to work and make art again. Moving into the next season, I hope we can find a proactive way to move forward in a safe, healthy way. I think that our sets will be smaller and more intimate, which will be nice for a change. We’ll also need to be aware of not using the same makeup brushes at shows, and implement many other health regulations to keep people safe. There is a lot to learn and a lot to do, but I feel with the right people, fashion can change everything."
