Beautiful-Hair-Haver Priyanka Chopra Jonas Is Launching a Haircare Line

Let's talk about Priyanka Chopra's hair for a moment. It's shiny, luxurious, healthy—and coming to a Target near you. The actress is entering the beauty world with Anomaly Haircare, a sustainable

and accessible line of hair products designed for every day use.

Launching February 1, the collection features a deep conditioning mask, dry shampoo, and three different types of shampoo and conditioner. And what else? It's good for the environment—each bottle is made from plastic pollution sourced from landfills and oceans. "I was just thinking about what would be an every day easy regiment for every person," she tells ELLE.com. "I'm not someone who's a professional with haircare, I let the professionals do that, but this is everyday haircare that will give you the best feeling."

Chopra claims she's no pro (I beg to differ), but she does have great hair and a fresh set of bangs, which leads me to a very important question: Should I get bangs too? "Well, see, I had a reason [to get bangs]," she says with a laugh. "I thought that for the role that I was playing in my new movie, Text For You, bangs worked for her character."

But the actress isn't telling me no. "Hair grows back!" she reassures. "That's how I feel. You should never 'what if' in your life. If you feel like you want bangs, do it, just don't cut them yourself. Get a professional to do it. But you know what girl? You have one life, live it."

Ahead, Chopra talks about her new haircare line, favorite quarantine binge-watches, and the trick for the perfect fringe.

What inspired you to create a hair care line?

I decided I wanted to do a beauty line, but I didn't know what it would be until I realized what the gap in the market was. You've seen a lot of skincare be sustainable, clean, vegan, cruelty-free, but you haven’t really seen that in hair care much. I wanted superior products, no parabens, and sulfates, but super clean.

When I was a teenager, I had really long fake hair and I wanted to get amazing shampoos for myself and all of them were way too expensive. [Anomaly] is like six bucks for each product, because we spent so little on our packaging. It's all recycled trash, so you can take the bottle and recycle it again. Everyone should have access to great hair and it shouldn't cost us the earth.

Why did you choose the name Anomaly?

The definition of anomaly is something that deviates from what's standard, normal, what's expected. We're all anomalies and the brand celebrates our differences. It empowers people to make beautiful choices without killing the earth. I truly believe that each one of us is very unique. It's more than just hair, it's our identities.

What’s your haircare routine?

I need a great hair mask. I do that once or twice a week when I have a little bit of time to have a longer shower. The Gentle Shampoo really helps me wash my hair every day because I'm in the gym and I'm working out. I use the Hydrating Shampoo because I have thick hair and it gets really dry with treatments and I'm always in the glam chair. And then the third one, the Clarifying Shampoo is my favorite. It has charcoal and eucalyptus, so it really gives you a deep cleanse.

Do you have any styling tips for people with bangs?

I don't blow dry them with a brush in everyday life. I just take a blow dryer like you're in a car and you put the window down. I blow dry from the right and from the left and just sort of let it air dry. It takes its natural form and just falls really naturally and beautifully, almost windswept.

What has your beauty routine been like in quarantine?

I'm not usually wearing makeup. I do like a little bit of a lip stain, I wear this Clinique lip pencil, which is sort of like a lip balm, but with a little tint. So I use that for my lips and my cheeks if I am feeling adventurous. And if it's for my zooms, I'll wear mascara, blush, maybe do a little makeup because I'm usually doing interviews and stuff, which are on TV. But if I'm at home, I usually just wear a tinted lip balm with lots of moisturizers and feel really clean and fresh.

What have you been watching and listening to?

I have discovered lofi hip hop! When I'm reading my scripts, I like having some lofi hip hop playing in the back. I watched this documentary called Assassins, which was really interesting, and one called The Dissident, which was great. I watched The Undoing. And Bridgerton!
