Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden Are Still Best Friend Goals

Michelle Obama and First Lady Jill Biden still treasure their close friendship.

Yesterday, the former First Lady took to Instagram to share a gorgeous basket of produce handpicked by her

friend and the current First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, courtesy of the White House garden. During Obama's tenure as First Lady, she became known for her massive renovation of the White House garden, which she utilized for youth education on the importance of nutritious eating and food sustainability.

"So thankful for this beautiful care package from our amazing @FLOTUS! These fresh veggies from the White House Kitchen Garden were such a wonderful—and delicious—surprise. Love you, Jill!" wrote Obama alongside an image of her basketful of lush greens.

Biden left a sweet comment underneath her friend's post as well via her @flotus Instagram account, writing, "Food is love. ?"

Obama's recent Instagram isn't the only time she's posted in support of her fellow FLOTUS. Back in December, a frivolous and sexist Wall Street Journal op-ed that suggested the First Lady drop her Dr. title once she entered the White House encouraged Obama to speak out in support of her friend.

"Right now, we’re all seeing what also happens to so many professional women, whether their titles are Dr., Ms., Mrs., or even First Lady: All too often, our accomplishments are met with skepticism, even derision. We’re doubted by those who choose the weakness of ridicule over the strength of respect. And yet somehow, their words can stick—after decades of work, we’re forced to prove ourselves all over again," wrote Obama in an Instagram post at the time.

"[Dr. Biden] will be a terrific role model," she continued, "not just for young girls but for all of us, wearing her accomplishments with grace, good humor, and yes, pride. I’m thrilled that the world will see what I have come to know—a brilliant woman who has distinguished herself in her profession and with the life she lives every day, always seeking to lift others up, rather than tearing them down."
