Wild Shoe Summer Is Upon Us

A few years back, loafers went crazy in the best way possible, following in the footsteps of the out-there sneaker wave. Boots and clogs of all types soon followed suit. As

spring rolls into summer, some crisp white sneakers will undoubtedly do the trick. But if you're looking for something fresher and funkier, then you're in luck. This week brings two brand-new collaborations—from Supreme and Dr. Martens, as well as Noah and Vans. We'd advise you to buckle up:  any of these kicks is sure to turn some heads.

The New York streetwear icon and Dr. Martens have been working together for many years, and this season's effort is just the latest great collab the two have dropped. Sometimes Supreme has riffed on the English brand's more obscure styles like the Rousden Creeper; other times they've focused on the most iconic, like the 6-Eye boot. Either way, there is usually an eccentric twist at play, like an out-there shade or an eye-catching pattern.

Now, Supreme set its sights on Dr. Martens' 5-Eye shoe, a slightly more casual take on the label's standard 1461 Oxford shoe. In typical Supreme fashion, the kicks have been turbocharged and rendered in tangerine orange and a bold zebra print. (Don't worry, there is also a more matter-of-fact black leather pair offered, too.)

While Supreme went a little dressier with this week's footwear collaboration, Noah unleashed its latest offering with Vans in the form of a high-top (and extremely summer-ready) sneaker. Taking inspiration from the old-school Venice skating scene, the kicks feature an abstract camouflage, a nod to the type of loud-as-hell print that you would have seen at the time of the shoes' first release in the late-1980s. The sneaker is offered in two colorways: white and green, and a much wilder black and hot pink. Even if you have no plans on ever stepping on a skateboard, the rubberized toe details make for a long-lasting pair of sneakers.

You need a few things to truly do summer right, and some next-level footwear is certainly at the top of that list. Whether you want something slightly dressier like a 5-eye lace-up or a skate-rat-inspired sneaker, the choice is up to you. Whichever way you go, no one can say you are wearing boring summer kicks.
