Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is releasing a memoir about his life from boyhood to manhood. Since his and wife, Meghan Markle’s withdrawal from duties as members of the British royal
family January of 2020–which the British press has termed Meg-xit— the duke and duchess have experienced a lot of press coverage. This time, he has chosen to control the narrative, as opposed to their previous experience with the British press, as reported by the couple.
From the book Finding Freedom [which is a biography about Meghan and Harry written by royal insiders, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand], to their interview with Oprah Winfrey where the duo opened up about their experience in the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have fast become world favorites.

Early this year, the couple announced the creation of their production company, Archewell Productions, and signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant, Netflix to produce scripted series, docu-series, documentaries, features, and children’s programming. The deal is rumored to be in excess of $100 million (USD).
The memoir
Now, for the book deal, the Prince is finally telling his story from start to finish, and has been offered $20 million (USD) by publishing giant, Penguin Random House to do so. The American book publishers have a history of scoring lucrative deals for high-profile writers, having offered BarackandMichelle Obama a $65 million book deal.
Harry’s book’s title is yet to be announced, however, the transcript was due to be handed in next month (August), but the Prince pushed this back due to the birth of his second child and daughter, Lilibet Diana, as well as other commitments. The deadline is now set for October. The memoir is ghost-written by Pulitzer winner, J.R. Moehringer, who has previously written memoirs for a number of people including Nike co-founder, Phil Knight.

What to expect from Prince Harry’s Memoir…
Speaking in an official press statement for the book, the Duke of Sussex said, “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born as but as the man, I will become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story–the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think”.
From this publication, we expect an exclusive look into the Prince’s life from his perspective. Harry says this book will contain never before seen information about his life in and out of the royal family. A statement from the publishing house said, “Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shaped him. Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontline of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father. Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.”
Reactions from the Royal Family
A source close to the Duke and Duchess said Harry had spoken privately with his family about the book, due in late 2022, before its announcement. However, sources inside the royal family confirm that there are a few jitters regarding the release of this memoir, and what tales will be told. When asked to comment on that, Buckingham Palace only said, “Any clarification about the book would be a question for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex”.
A few close watchers of the royal family believe that this memoir might further dampen the already estranged relationship Harry and his brother, Prince William, share. On our end, Style Rave is committed to keep you updated about these happenings.
