Last Week, Our Favorite African Style Queens Chose To Apply Pressure

S

uperheroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they take the form of our favorite African style queens consistently serving dashing looks we readily pin to our boards for that day of

need. It’s because of this singular act of heroism that we can confidently say to our friends, “Say no more, I know just the right outfit for the occasion“.

One unspoken rule that remains constant in these fashion streets season after season, lockdown or not, is that the streets must always bustle with numerous remarkable looks and last week no different. Our favorite African style queens played with it all: expressive patterns, bright colors, muted tones and tailored silhouettes. The sartorial set was consequently dripped in finesse; the kind that’s only reserved for trendsetters.

The looks

They don’t call Nigerian A-list actress Rita Dominic the Queen of Style for nothing. Every piece she touches glows up instantly. Last week, she slipped into a two-tone red and hickory brown silk mini dress by The Studio by S.B Youme and she owned the look effortlessly. We can say the same for Social Media Influencer Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori who wowed us in a gold flowy dress by Accost Collection. She complemented the outfit with matching gold ornaments and a ponytail that completed the Coming to America vibe.

Looking all shades of glam in a pastel peach, South African media personality, Blue Mbombo is a vision to behold. She stuns in a two-piece suit by SA designer, SCALO for a birthday celebration. The couture piece boasts intricate details of delicate flowers on the sleeves and statement bows on the blazer as well as pants. Finally (but in no way least), South African content creator, Mihlali Ndamase said to boring clothes “not today, not ever” in a delightful dress by Keys Fashion. The fabric, sleeves, and silhouette speak Boujee as a first language.

The styles shared by African celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.

Check out the best looks from our favorite African style queens this past week of June 2021…
