The Best Dressed African Stars Are Doing It All, Their Way

Last week, African women sprung up across the continent looking astonishing in fashion takes that we fell in love with! They showed up in elegant, edgy and ‘boyish‘ ensembles that fearlessly

showcased their personalities and individual styles. From scarlet reds to fuchsia pink, three-piece pant suit, to rich embroidered dresses, our best dressed African stars showed us that there’s beauty in diversity and individuality.

As expected, once the gates of ‘outside’ flung open and life gradually shifted back to normalcy, events showed back on the scene and gave us (and our ever stylish stars) a much needed reason to dress up. All of a sudden, we went from at-home lounge wear and couldn’t-be-bothered demeanor to full-on Barbie doll status. The glow up, shimmer and shine our feeds witnessed last week was indeed very pleasing to behold.

The looks

Nigerian actressLinda Osifohas always been a bona fide stylista and her appearance last week further solidified this. Showing up in a bespoke Sue Manuell frock with fringe and shimmering detailing, the rich melanin-skinned bombshell was an impressive sight as she dazzled and left no shadows in view.

Unapologetic in her style and attitude, Nigerian fashion designer, Tolu Bally‘s sense of style is definitely pin-worthy. The melanin goddess has owned her right in fashion scene as she showcases a style that is bold, edgy and classy. She unapologetically serves back-to-back jaw-dropping looks from her brand that we approve and this week yet again, this has earned her a spot on our best dressed list.

South African celebrity chef Lorna Maseko proves her culinary skills aren’t limited to the kitchen. Last week, she served a sizzling red number by Scalo Designer which boasts feather details and an extra train on the side. Dinner was well prepared and we satisfactorily belched at the end of the take-in.

Back in West Africa, Ghanaian sensation Nana Adjoa Walker stunned in an over-the-top MILIRV mini dress with disproportionate sleeves and silver details. She finished off the look with an emerald green clutch and leopard print pumps. Everything was such a hit, she almost had us craving for Ghana jollof.

The styles shared by African women and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
